Originating in 1859, the Allegheny Observatory is a historical landmark on Pittsburgh's North Side with an amazing legacy of scientific achievement.

The University of Pittsburgh's Allegheny Observatory is the site of some of the most important innovations in the history of physics and astronomy. Among its distinctions, the Allegheny Observatory produced major advances in astrophysics, early aviation, solar research, star mapping, and planet discovery outside our solar system. The Story of the Allegheny Observatory chronicles the fascinating and inspirational stories of John and Phoebe Brashear, Samuel Pierpont Langley, James Keeler, and the many astonishing scientific achievements made at this magnificent institution.

The film is currently in production. A public premiere of the finished film is planned at the Senator John Heinz History Center.
